In the news: Marty Zase, a dentist based in Colchester, recently was awarded a fellowship by the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honorary dental service organization established in 1936.
About the award: The academy awards medals and other honors to people who have made contributions to dentistry and those recognized as role models for others in the field. It has 7,000 fellows in 65 countries and members must be nominated by others in the profession.
His practice: Zase has been with the Colchester Dental Group for more than three decades. In addition to his clinical practice, he has developed techniques and instruments used in cosmetic dentistry, according to the Colchester Dental Group.
Background: Zase has published more than 50 articles on dentistry and is on the editorial board of three dental magazines. The founder of the University Advisory Council at the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Zase was the academy’s 2006-07 president. He also is a member of the board of directors of the New England Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and belongs to the Colchester Business Association.
Personal: Zase has practiced dentistry since 1974 and is well known for wearing Hawaiian shirts. He is a self-described “continuing education junkie.”
